Google Finally Brings March Feature Drop to Pixel 6 Series

Posted March 21, 2022 | Android | Google Pixel | Pixel 6 | Pixel 6 Pro | Windows

Two weeks after it headed to other supported Pixel handsets, the March Feature Drop is available for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

“Our goal is to provide high-quality software updates in a timely manner for all Pixel users,” Google previously explained of the delay. “The cadence of these rollouts can be impacted by a number of factors, for example, internal validation testing, bug fixes, and approvals from carrier partners for each software build on each Pixel model.”

Whatever the reason, the March Feature Drop has finally arrived, and Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners can at least take solace in the fact that they’re getting all of the new features, whereas other Pixels only get a subset. So in addition to a new Battery widget, custom text stickers, new Call Wait Times, Direct My Call, and At a Glance features, and new wallpapers, Pixel 6/6 Pro users are also getting Live Captions for calls, Night Sight in Snapchat, and new language support in Live Translate, Interpreter mode, and Recorder.

The update also brings faster fingerprint reader recognition, better battery management, improved thermal control, and some bug fixes, among them for an issue that caused some phones to randomly disconnect from Wi-Fi. And if you’re on Verizon, the update adds support for Verizon’s new 5G C-band spectrum, which is allegedly up to 10 faster than 4G LTE.
