Twitter for Android Finally Lets You View Tweets in Chronological Order

Posted January 16, 2019 | Android | Social | Twitter | Twitter for Android | Windows

Twitter has been releasing a lot of new features lately, but one of the biggest changes on the platform was the re-introduction of the chronological timeline. In December, the company launched a new feature for Twitter on iOS that allowed users to view their main timeline in reverse chronological order, instead of relying on the algorithmic timeline.

At the time, the company said the feature will arrive on Android soon. And it has now started rolling out the new feature to those on Android. If you use Twitter’s official Android app, you can now click on the start icon on the top right of the Home page, and from there, you can switch to view the latest tweets. Or if you prefer to see the “best” tweets based on the algorithm, you can switch back to seeing the top tweets from the same icon.

The feature is an essential addition to Twitter, to be honest. Algorithmic timelines are generally quite poor, and for a real-time social network like Twitter, the idea doesn’t really work well. And the option to switch to see the timeline in chronological order has been a very welcome change.
