Samsung’s first-gen Galaxy Fold is expected to launch later this month after the initial, botched launch of the product. The company has, however, already been working on a second-gen of the Galaxy Fold. Bloomberg is today revealing some details on Samsung’s next foldable phone, and it will be a whole lot different than the original Galaxy Fold.

According to the report, the next Galaxy Fold will feature a 6.7-inch display that folds inwards like a classic flip phone. When the device is folded, it turns into a pocketable square. The new device is expected to feature a thinner design and be cheaper than the original Galaxy Fold. Samsung is reportedly testing a new Ultra Thin Glass for the inner display of the next Galaxy Fold which will only be 3% of the thickness of the current glass that’s used to protect the display.

The new 6.7-inch panel means Samsung will also not need Android developers to update their apps to work better with the display’s aspect ratio, as all Android apps should work well in the new aspect ratio without needing to be updated like they need to be on the Galaxy Fold.

The device will feature a hole-punch selfie camera at the top of the inner display, and two cameras on the outside, too.

Samsung is also working with American designer Thom Browne on the new Galaxy Fold. The idea here is that Browne will bring in a luxury, high-fashion design that could appeal more to regular consumers than techies.

Bloomberg says the next-gen Galaxy Fold could arrive early next year, but that all depends on the success of the original Galaxy Fold, which is yet to go on sale.
