App pick of the week: Death Stranding for PC Game Pass
Yep, there’s a blockbuster Sony title on PC Game Pass.
Enterprise pick of the week: ACS for Teams hits GA
Azure Communication Services — the voice, video, chat and screen sharing capabilities Microsoft uses itself for Teams — are now available to third party developers so they can use them in building their own Teams apps. Microsoft first announced ACS in 2020.
Codename pick of the week: O’Hare
Everyone knows Chicago was the codename for Windows 95. But did you know O’Hare was the codename for IE 1.0, which arrived the same day as Chicago? IE 1.0 was part of the Win 95 Plus Pack (codenamed Frosting). And the OSR2 release of Windows 95: Detroit. Those were the fun old codename days. (Memphis = Windows 98. And then … on to Neptune, Asteroid, etc.?)
Beer pick of the week: Japas Cervejaria Kasato Maru
Japas Cervejaria, based in Sao Paulo, is a women-owned brewery that uses some Asian ingredients in making a variety of styles of beer. Their Kasato Maru, named for the first ship that brough Japanese immigrants to Brazil, is a New England IPA that adds Dekopon (a satsuma type orange). This brewery is increasing its distribution in the U.S. and is brewing some beer in Chicago right now. If you see anything from them, it’s worth a try. A bit off the beaten path, plus supporting women brewers!
