Windows 11 Insider Build 25284 Brings New Facebook Messenger Widget
Microsoft has just released the Windows 11 preview build 25284 for Insiders on the Dev channel. This new build introduces a new third-party widget for Facebook Messenger which will let users access their chat conversations from the Widgets board.
This new app widget is currently in preview and it requires the installation of the latest version of Facebook Messenger from the Microsoft Store. Facebook is the first big developer to release a third-party widget on Windows 11, and Microsoft hopes other developers will create widgets for their Windows apps with the Windows App SDK 1.2.
Today’s build 25284 doesn’t include other new features, but there are some notable bug fixes. Microsoft has fixed an issue that was causing some apps to hang or crash when saving files as PDFs in recent builds. The company also addressed File Explorer crashes affecting Dev Channel Insiders who received one of the different visual treatments for the search box in the taskbar.
It’s also worth mentioning that today’s Windows 11 build 25284 isn’t available for Windows on ARM devices: Microsoft is currently working to fix a known issue causing Windows on ARM PCs to be stuck at the OS boot logo when resuming from sleep/hibernate. Microsoft acknowledged that this bug is present in the previous build 25281, and the current workaround is to roll back your device to the previous build by using the Windows Recovery Environment.
That’s it for today’s update for Dev Channel Insiders. There’s no new flight for Insiders on the Beta channel, though we’ll see what happens later this week.
