WhatsApp for Windows Gets Improved Group Calling Features
Meta announced the release of a new WhatsApp for Windows app that brings performance improvements, a new UI, and better group calling features. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, but the desktop apps for Windows and macOS don’t evolve as fast as their iOS and Android counterparts.
This new WhatsApp for Windows update introduces a user interface that’s more aligned with the mobile apps. The app should load faster, and the team said that it also made improvements to device linking and conversation syncing across devices.
Moreover, WhatsApp for Windows now supports group video calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 people. “We’ll continue to increase these limits over time so you can always stay connected with friends, family and coworkers,” the team said yesterday.
WhatsApp for Windows is available to download from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and Windows 11, where it ranks among the top free popular apps. Besides this new update for WhatsApp for Windows, Meta has also released a new native macOS app in beta, as well as a beta client for Android tablets. There’s still no word on an official iPad app, though.
