Screen recording in Snipping Tool Starts Rolling out to Beta Channel Insiders

Posted January 26, 2023 | Windows | Windows 11 | Windows Insider

Microsoft has started rolling out screen recording in Snipping Tool to Windows Insiders in the Beta channel today. The built-in screen recorder was first introduced on the Dev Channel a month ago, and it completes the app’s various features for capturing and sharing content on a Windows PC.

“As part of the most recent Snipping Tool update, we have also added the ability to pause while recording and you should notice improved performance and reliability,” the Windows Insider team emphasized today. To try screen recording with the Snipping tool, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve downloaded the version 11.2212.24.0 of the app from the Microsoft Store.

While this Snipping Tool update is rolling out to all Insiders on the Beta channel, testers can also download the Windows 11 Insider build 22621.1245 and Build 22623.1245 today. Don’t get too excited as these two builds only include various bug fixes for the OS. As it’s often the case on the Beta channel, the subset of Insiders who will receive the build 22623.1245 will also receive some unique bug fixes.

If you missed it yesterday, Microsoft also released the Windows 11 Insider build 25284 for testers in the Dev channel. The new bits add support for a new Facebook Messenger widget in the Widgets Board, which will let users see their latest conversations at a glance. It remains to be seen if more developers will follow and create widgets for their Windows apps.
