Qualcomm Launches Android Developer Portal
Qualcomm today announced its Android on Snapdragon website, a portal for Android developers who want to take advantage of premium Snapdragon technologies into their apps.
“This new website will highlight the latest premium Snapdragon technologies and offer instructions on how to add them into Android apps,” the announcement post explains. “We aim to provide Android app developers with the largest set of tools possible to build apps with outstanding performance and features, help them find the best approach to using standard Android application programming interfaces (APIs) on Snapdragon mobile platforms, and Snapdragon Extension APIs to enhance apps with new experiences.”
The site also provides Android API walkthroughs, free code samples, and Snapdragon Extension APIs documentation. These APIs include such capabilities as HLG/HDR10 camera capture, image stabilization, Dolby Vision HDR support, HDR10/10+ editing, link capacity estimation (LCE) for estimating uplink and downlink signals, always-on activity recognition, adaptive performance engine for gaming, precise positioning, and much more. The Snapdragon APIs “enable native phone capabilities beyond what the standard Android API can provide,” Qualcomm notes.
