Nvidia Announces GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Desktop GPU and GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptops

Posted January 3, 2023 | CES | Hardware | Nvidia | NVIDIA GPUs | Windows

Nvidia announces GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptops and a new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti desktop GPU ahead of CES today. The latter will be available on Thursday, January 5, and it’s actually a slightly cheaper and rebranded version of the 12GB TX 4080 GPU that Nividia “unlaunched” back in October.

Starting at $799, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti comes with 7680 CUDA Cores and 12 GB of super-fast GDDR6X memory, and Nvidia claims its faster and more power-efficient than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The new GPU also supports the same innovations as other GeForce RTX 50 Series cards including DLSS 3, NVIDIA’s Reflex low-latency platform, and AI-enhanced voice and video.

Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and other manufacturers will start offering their own GeForce RTX 4070 Ti on January 5th. However, Nvidia has also teamed up with PC manufacturers to launch the first GeForce RTX 40 Series laptops.

“The new GeForce RTX 40 Series laptops are up to 3x more power efficient than the previous generation and bring the Ada architecture, NVIDIA DLSS 3 and fifth-generation Max-Q technologies to laptops for the first time. For gamers, RTX 40 Series laptops deliver up to 4x the performance in AAA games like full ray-traced Cyberpunk 2077 with new RT Overdrive Mode, and, for creators, they offer blazing-fast acceleration in top creative apps such as Blender,” the company said today.

The first GeForce RTX 40 Series laptops from Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, GIGABYTE, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer, and Samsung will be available starting on February 8. Prices will start at $999 for RTX 4050 laptops, while RTX 40 Series flagship laptops with RTX 4080 and 4090 GPUs will start at $1,999.

Nvidia also announced today a new Ultimate tier for its GeForce Now cloud gaming service, which is powered by GeForce RTX 4080 GPUs. The new tier costs $19.99 per month or $99.99 for six months, and it supports 4K gaming at up to 120FPS. “Current GeForce NOW RTX 3080 members will be upgraded immediately to Ultimate memberships and be among the first to experience the full benefits of GeForce RTX 4080 performance in the cloud when the servers start rolling out later this month,” the company said today.
