Microsoft announced today that it will sell a standalone version of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam beginning on April 20. It was previously available only as a pack-in with Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition.

As you may know, Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game series set in the Halo universe. The original game was released on Xbox 360 in 2009, and the sequel, Halo Wars 2 (where do they come up with these names?) shipped on Xbox One and Windows 10 earlier this year. As its name suggests, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is an enhanced version of the original game that now runs natively on both Xbox One and Windows. It features improved graphics, additional Achievements and includes all of the DLC created for the classic real-time strategy game, Microsoft says.

The Xbox One and Windows 10 versions of the game support the Xbox Play Anywhere service, so if you buy one version of the game, you get the other for free.

And if you prefer Steam, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition supports Steam Achievements and ships with a server browser so anyone can create and host a game for others to search and join.

No word yet on pricing.
