Google Nest to Integrate with Samsung SmartThings
Google announced today that it will enable integration between its Nest-branded smart home products and Samsung’s SmartThings platform.
“To make it easier for you to control all of your connected devices, we’ve been working closely with manufacturers to make sure your devices communicate and work across the smart home ecosystem,” Google’s Michele Turner announced. “Coming soon, your Assistant and Nest devices will now interoperate more easily with your Samsung smart devices in your home.”
This integration means that users will be able to control Nest devices with the Samsung SmartThings app and through Samsung smart TVs, refrigerators, and other smart home devices. And Google says it is working with Samsung to bring an Android 11 feature to Samsung’s new Galaxy smartphones that lets see all of your connected devices from the Quick Panel screen.
On Samsung’s end, the consumer electronics giant is adding Google Assistant support into its new smart appliances and devices so that you can control them with your voice.
Finally, both firms will link their respective online accounts so that customers can more easily streamline the process of using devices and services from both ecosystems.
