Microsoft’s Surface Duo 2 is currently down to $999 in the US, its lowest price ever. For a limited time, the US Microsoft Store and Best Buy are both offering $500 discounts on all versions of the dual-screen device (via Windows Central).

The Surface Duo 2 is available in two finishes, Glacier and Obsidian, and the base $999 model offers just 128GB of storage. For $100 more, you can get 256GB of storage, which is probably recommended as the Surface Duo 2 has no microSD card slot. As of this writing, the 512GB variant is out of stock.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 was released back in Fall 2021, and it addressed many of the original Surface Duo’s shortcomings. The triple lens camera system on the back takes much better pictures, and the Surface Duo 2 also added 5G support, NFC, and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.

It used to be hard to recommend the Surface Duo 2 with its initial $1,499 price tag, but it’s now much easier to forgive the device’s imperfections. Recent firmware updates have really improved the software situation on the Surface Duo 2, and the dual-screen device is also expected to receive Android 12L, a special version of Android 12 with unique features or tablets and foldables later this year.

If you’re interested in dual-screen devices, the Surface Duo 2 is now an interesting choice if you don’t mind the pretty large form factor. If you want to save even more money, both the US Microsoft Store and Best Buy also let you trade in your old device and get some cash back.
