ChatGPT iOS App Launches in the UK and 10 More Countries

Posted May 25, 2023 | ChatGPT | Cloud | iOS | Mobile | Windows

If Microsoft pretty much dominated the AI conversation this week with its Windows Copilot announcement and other AI-related news, ChatGPT is here with an update, too. Following the launch of ChatGPT iOS app in the US last week, OpenAI is making the mobile app available in 11 new countries today.

The list of new markets includes Albania, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and the UK. OpenAI said that more countries would be added “soon.”

The ChatGPT app for iOS supports the same features as the web app, and it can also sync conversations across platforms. The mobile app also supports voice input enhanced with OpenAI’s in-house Whisper speech recognition engine.

If you have a ChatGPT Plus subscription, you can also enjoy faster and more insightful responses thanks to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 language model. This is the same model that powers Microsoft’s Bing chatbot.

Speaking of Bing, Microsoft announced a new Bing integration in ChatGPT at its Build developer conference this week. For ChatGPT subscribers, Bing is now the default search experience in the app, while free ChatGPT users can access Bing via a plugin. Microsoft also announced this week that ChatGPT plugins will be compatible with its Bing Chatbot, the Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the upcoming Windows Copilot on Windows 11.
