Bose Brings Google Assistant to its Smart Speakers

Posted May 21, 2019 | Bose | Cloud | Google | Music + Videos | smart home | Windows

Bose is adding Google Assistant compatibilities to its most recent smart speakers and soundbars via a software update.

“Starting today, Bose is bringing the Google Assistant to its line of smart speakers and soundbars,” Google’s Anurag Jain announced. “This includes the Bose Home Speaker 500, Bose Soundbar 500 and 700, and an all-new, compact smart speaker coming later this summer, the Bose Home Speaker 300.”

Bose’s smart speakers previously provided Amazon Alexa support.

According to Google, those who already own a compatible Bose smart speaker will receive a software update automatically that enables Google Assistant support. Visit “Voice Settings” in the Bose Music app, select the Google Assistant, and then follow the guided setup process. In the future, all newly-purchased Bose smart speakers will include this functionality already.

Once enabled, Google Assistant will function like it does on Google Home or other Google Assistant-powered devices.  You can say “Hey Google” to get started, play music, stream remotely via Chromecast, get answers, control smart home devices, and more.
